I've taken a few months off. Life has been busy (and still is)! But I wanted to post these cute photo blocks that I made with my sister for our dad for Father's day. We took a 2 x 4 and cut it into different lengths. Then we painted, mod-podged some pics and embellished. We couldn't decide which photos to use, so we put them on both sides of the blocks, along with painted hand and foot prints. I think they turned out pretty cute, but then again I had cute pics to work with!

Here's April! Josh loves his toy animals. We have to play them at least 10 times a day (lucky mommy!). I had to include them in our 2009 calendar. I love these chipboard letter stickers! I daubed on some Old Olive ink and Viola- new color.

Thank you x 6 to everyone who came last night. We had a good turn out with a lot of good food, new friends to meet, and lots of thank you cards. We made a Thank You gift card box. It was fun to use the Textuz Plates for the Big Shot (and the Cuttlebug - thanks Kaylene!). The box folding was a little tricky, but everyone's turned out great!

Next time we'll be making Mother's Day and Father's Day projects. I'm still taking requests for techniques...

Yeah, winter is almost over! I'm not a fan of the cold nor the snow. I look forward to spring.

The UPS man left a nice package on my front porch...lots of new Stampin Up stuff. I'm so excited to use my new Texture Plates and dies for the Big Shot. I had lots of fun playing with it yesterday. So much fun that I have the next two SU parties all ready planned out. Are you so excited? Sorry, you'll have to wait to see what I've come up with!

So remember the calendar that I made for my moms for Christmas. Well, here's the February portion...

What a week...

This has been a very tragic week. We had a good friend pass away. It has been hard to cope with his loss. My heart aches for his family.

I have never had to make a sympathy card before. (Really, I hope to not have to make one for a very long time, if ever.) I wanted to keep the card simple. I tried a few new techniques for it (at least they were new to me). Instead of ink, I used acrylic paint. The picture isn't very good. The green looks very bright here, but really it was a pale green and the background stamp was very light.

I'm back at it...

After several years of taking a break from scrapbooking, I thought I'd give it another try. I've decided to go the easy route. I'm using the 12 x 12 sheet photo protectors. It holds 12 -4x6 photos. This way, I can put my pics in and not feel guilty about them sitting in a box. I can embellish the photos and include journaling in the 4 x 6 slots. I've even put "hidden" journaling with pull tabs. Too cute! I can also scrapbook a full page here and there. It seems to be the best of both worlds.

The best part is how much time it saves me. So far, I've done one month, 5 pages (front and back) and app. 30 pictures. I've spent maybe a total of 1 1/2 hours. If it stays this easy, I may be able to get completely caught up this year!

Christmas Frame

I updated a frame with some left over Christmas paper. I thought it turned out quite nice. It was very easy to do. I painted the frame along the outside edges. Then I cut my paper to fit the frame. Added some mod podge to glue it on. After it dried, I sanded and inked the edges. Then I put a top coat of mod podge. Added some embellishments and viola!

Don't you just love the photo! It is my siblings and myself taken who knows when.

I hope that you all had a wonderful holiday. One of my New Year's resolutions is to stay on top of my blog pages. I'm hoping to make it weekly, but keeping up with a two year old, I can get off track easily.

For Christmas this year, I made our moms calendars for 2009. They turned out better than I imagined. Here's a preview of the cover and January. I'll post the other months through out the year.

Thanks to everyone for coming to Saturday's party! I'm sure that Tanya is still cleaning glitter up! I love the "glitter window" in this card. The picture doesn't do it justice.

Our next party is Saturday, December 6 at 10:00am. Technically it's not a Stampin' Up party. (For those of you who would like to make a purchase, you are free to do so, but it is not required this month.) Instead, we will be having a Shoebox Swap. Please bring (13) cards to swap. One of the cards needs to be completed. Bring the supplies for the remaining (12). We will assemble them together. Also, bring some treats to share, we'll make it a potluck lunch.

We will also be scheduling out the 2009 stamping year. Let me know if you still want to participate. I will be drawing names for each month, so it is fair for Sale-A-Bration. (If you can't make it to the party, let me know if you want to keep going next year).

Today is my father-in-law's birthday. Luckily, I had to make a birthday card. It's been a while since I've done anything. I haven't felt the creative mojo. But once I card started, you couldn't stop me. I made lots of cards and candy boxes. I'm hoping to stay on track and start doing more. My card swap group is meeting again this month, so I have a reason to stay productive.

I have to admit, I borrowed this card idea from my friend Rhonda Shurtleff. It's a fun pop-up card. Rhonda used it for a birthday party invitation. I'm also thinking I may use it for my Christmas Card. I'd pop up my family pic. We'll see, I still have a month before I start them.

Hopefully, I will see all of you at our party tomorrow night. If possible, please bring a bone-folder. We're folding a lot!

Twice the fun...

Today I had to make two cards...a birthday invitation for Josh's second birthday and a wedding card for my friend, Camille.

The invite was a collabiration between Josh and I. Josh colored the "choo-choos" and I assembled. This inside says..."Chug-a Chug-a Choo Choo Joshua is turning 2!" and then it gives the party info. No stamping involved, but I thought it was so cute I had to share. Can you believe he's going to be two in a few weeks?

I did it!!! I caved in and bought the new Big Shot from Stampin' Up! and Sissix. I've debated over it for a few weeks now, but today I finally did it. I also bought a few dies and stamp supplies. Don't tell Ryan :). I'm excited to get some embossing folders for it. My wish list is out of control. I'll need to step up on card making and giving!!! So plan on using the Big Shot at our next party (in September).

I am going to a baby blessing this afternoon. I waited until the last minute to make a baby card. And to be honest, I'm tired this morning. The creative juices are running low. So I borrowed my card from Stampin' Up's Sale-A-Bration brochure. I did make some variation, so it wasn't a complete copy :)

This week was Stampin' Up Convention. They introduced the new catalog and new products. I wasn't able to attend, but I've seen sneek previews of lots of cool things! I am very sad to see all of the Designer Papers and In Colors being discontinued. I thought I'd better put them to good use before it's too late. I'm excited to see what new papers Stampin' Up will be coming out with. Only 2 more weeks!

This card was inpired by Split Coast Stampers Challenge TLC179. I think I'm starting an addiction to their challenges. Anyways, if you need directions you can check it out at their website - or just ask me. Really easy though. I also tryed something new. I didn't have the brilliant blue cardstock, so I dyed whisper white cardstock with my inkpad. Messy, but I liked how it turned out.

Happy Pioneer Day! Unfortunately, Ryan had to work today- so not much of a holiday. After spending all afternoon in the pool, I came inside to take a break from the sun. What better way, than to use my new Scallop Edge punch!!! Love it! I will be anxious to show it to you at the next party. Sorry the card looks a little squished on the right side - the flowers are popped up amking it uneven for my scanner.

I was very ambitious this last week. I cleaned out my scrapbook room! This has been well needed for a very long time. While I rummaged through my piles of stuff, I realized that I had stamp sets that I had never used before...Does this sound familiar to any one else?

Here's your challenge...

Try your "new" stamp set on a new layout!

With my newfound stamp set in hand, I opened my catalog to a random page (Spring/Summer 2008 pg. 42). Picking a card for a sample layout, I adapted it to make it my own. This was the final product. I love the flowers!

I hope you'll take time and try it. Bring your cards to our next gathering! We'll start posting everyone's cards.
